What is a space? Simply put, it is a location which serves a purpose. It is a container where an activity (passive or dynamic) takes place; think of a vestibule as contrasted with a workout box, or even a kitchen table.
So often we think of boundaries around spaces as formidable walls… I like to think of boundaries as invitations for specific activities in to occur in specific spaces—they create space. There are activities that rightly take place in a kitchen, for example, that may not be appropriate elsewhere if we want great outcomes. This space can be created by time (a deadline, an appointment, or a pause); tools or objects specific to a purpose or project; intention (a commitment, or a promise; people gathered with a common goal)…a pause, a container, an anchor, a suggestion or a direction, a narrowing or widening of focus.

Like physical fitness—the ability to use inherent or acquired physical resources, mental fitness describes the ability to direct your own thought processes, generate possibilities, to empathize with self and others, to ground in the present, to thrive and be resilient in the face of adversity, and to actualize decisions. These mental muscles are essential to living a life of your own making and thriving in it.
Mental fitness coaches may help individuals or groups to build and maintain mental strength and resilience, but they do not provide medical advice or services. Instead, mental fitness involves practices such as mindfulness, meditation, positive thinking, and self reflection to help people strengthen the mental muscles (or resources) needed to self regulate, create change and make a life you can’t wait to wake up to. The impact of this fitness populates into all areas of life (both broad and specific) including productivity and goal setting, health and wellness, team building, relationships, parenting, emotional regulation, habit change and formation—this is not an exclusive list.
